Chris and Amy were an amazing couple to work with. They had so much genuine affection for each other, which is very clear in the photos. I meet most of my clients before they get in front of the camera. Chris and Amy were a little different, they loved my work so much they booked immediately by email!! Thanks guys! I was a little nervous meeting new clients, and I am sure they must have been apprehensive about making such a major decision sight unseen. Turns out, they are perfect, dream clients, gorgeous, and oh so photogenic. Score one for me:-) I guess they got lucky too, but I will leave that decision to the reader.

Harkeness State Park is becoming one of my absolute favorite places to shoot, and a generally amazing piece of scenery available to all. It turns out that it is a popular location amongst photographers too. We encountered three other photographers shooting kids and couples. Beautiful day to shoot! I am really looking forward to Chris & Amy’s wedding this August.

Fairfield Connectict Wedding Photography Gaelic Club

This past Saturday I photographed a really really fun wedding! The ceremony took place in Trumbull Connecticut at a small but very bright and beautiful church. After the ceremony I disappeared with the Bride and Groom For some Fairfield Connecticut beach wedding photos. These two were all giggles in front of the camera but once they saw how beautiful they looked they really forgot about me and let their personalities shine. Speaking of personality! The party moved back to the Gaelic American Club in Fairfield Connecticut where I got to really see the guests coaxed out of ‘church mode’ and into ‘party mode’. This crowd knew how to party the right way! Thanks to Karen from Sound Sensation Disc Jockey & Karaoke based in Naugatuck Connecticut the guests had a fun and lively soundtrack for the evening.

This wedding featured a Wedding Photo Booth by By The Light Photography. The guests had a private spot to disappear to, dress up in wild costumes, and snap photos of themselves all night long! The feedback on the Wedding Photo Booth was positive and the guests really enjoyed themselves. I would like to think that the Wedding Photo Booth made this party really memorable for the guests but I have a feeling it was the amazing Bride and Groom that really made the night!

Annual Business Reinvestment aka NEW STUFF!!! & Green Initiative

This week we have begun to clean, repair, and restock our wedding photography equipment. This year has been very successful and as always a learning experience! Over the next few weeks we have the opportunity to test some new equipment on some shoots and further advance By The Light Photography towards the top tiers of wedding photographers. Among our additions are several new ‘L’ series Canon lenses to shift our current lenses to backup lenses, new studio lights with location battery packs to really overpower the sun on wedding shoots, new wireless technology which will allow us to light even faster than we do now, newer more environmentally friendly rechargeable batteries for our battery hungry flashes, and much more.

We have already made several changes and intend to make several more to make our business as green as possible. We love the trend of green weddings and we hope to do our part! This year we purchased an apple iMac 27″ Core i7 which is one of the most environmentally conscious desktops available! Rather than trashing the old gear we have repurposed some of it and intend to recycle it when it reaches the end of its lifecycle. We began offering our clients the option of a wedding mini-site which is a rich flash based site that allows them to disseminate information about their wedding without paper, even going so far as to collect RSVP’s online! We discontinued proof products as an automatic inclusion in our packages as we found that their value to our clients was not enough to justify the use of the paper! They are still available but only if ordered by a client. We have thus shifted our proofing process to a completely digital endeavor which better serves our clients AND the environment. A win for sure! Our goal is to provide our clients and readers with updates, once a month or so, on our Green Wedding Photography Initiative.

Now for the good stuff: To celebrate our spring ‘rebirth’ we will be looking to test some of our new stuff!! We have bolstered our equipment for location lifestyle photography, more specifically newborns and kids. We are running a promotion for a free child photography package to the winner of a cute kid photo contest. We also have lots of new backgrounds and props to take some really memorable photos of your kids and family. BIG SAVINGS are just a few hours away!
