Cherie + Paul Wedding | Hurricane Irene

Cherie & Paul were married on the evening that Hurricane Irene hit New England. I was worried about the weather, the logistics, the guests… As it turns out they got an amazing break in weather just long enough to say their vows and take some awesome photos outside! I always say that inclement weather makes for a more intimate wedding and this was no exception. The guests and the photographers had an awesome time rocking away at the Waterview in Monroe Connecticut while hurricane Irene descended upon us. Most venues would have cancelled in light of forecast road closures and severe weather but in this case the Waterview took a calculated chance and got really lucky, as did the bride and groom. From my perspective everything went off without a hitch. I feel for all the brides who had their wedding cancelled as a result of Hurricane Irene and I really hope that alternative plans come together for folks. In fact I would be willing to offer special pricing to couples who reschedule their weddings and for whatever reason can not re-book their photographer. I will reveal some details later and it is of course subject to my own limited availability. So if you had your wedding cancelled by Hurricane Irene please contact me to help with your photographs.

Paolo, my favorite second shooter, was stranded in CT by the storm. He braved the hurricane in a hotel, lost power but made it home safe and sound in Manhattan 24 hours later.

On a more personal note, Paul and Cherie could not have been a more perfect couple to get married on the day of Hurricane Irene. Their wedding deserves to be an event to remember and thanks in small part to the hurricane, it was. I had a blast shooting with this couple on our E-Session in New Haven Connecticut and I was really looking forward to shooting the wedding. I took a lot of photos that are now on the top of my all time favorites list. Without further adieu here are some images from Paul and Cherie’s Connecticut Hurricane Irene Wedding.

Chris and Amy were an amazing couple to work with. They had so much genuine affection for each other, which is very clear in the photos. I meet most of my clients before they get in front of the camera. Chris and Amy were a little different, they loved my work so much they booked immediately by email!! Thanks guys! I was a little nervous meeting new clients, and I am sure they must have been apprehensive about making such a major decision sight unseen. Turns out, they are perfect, dream clients, gorgeous, and oh so photogenic. Score one for me:-) I guess they got lucky too, but I will leave that decision to the reader.

Harkeness State Park is becoming one of my absolute favorite places to shoot, and a generally amazing piece of scenery available to all. It turns out that it is a popular location amongst photographers too. We encountered three other photographers shooting kids and couples. Beautiful day to shoot! I am really looking forward to Chris & Amy’s wedding this August.

Katherine + Brandt Wedding | Webb Barn

This past weekend myself and my second shooter Bonnie had the pleasure of sharing the day with Katherine & Brandt and about 100 of their closest friends and family. You may remember this couple from their Wadsworth Falls E-Session. Katherine & Brandt were married on June 18th, 2011 at the Webb Barn in Wethersfield Connecticut on one of the most beautiful days of the wedding season. The wedding was so incredibly styled, so personal, and yet so universally appealing. Every detail from the venue to the cufflinks was just perfect! I especially appreciated the antique/vintage aesthetic! The following photos are just a brief selection of favorites from the day.

Jie & Dave have really outdone themselves. Firstly they picked my new favorite location, Newport RI, for their engagement shoot! Next, they were super excited to shoot with me, which always goes a long way towards making beautiful art! Lastly, they brought with a top five all time sunset! I recall saying “It’s too cloudy for a good sunset.” We happened to make it to the edge of the harbor to a park named Goat Island just in time to watch a stunning sunset over a lighthouse and the bridge. This was followed by an unbelievable dinner at 22 Bowens filled with red meat, truffles, and wine… This was truly an amazing day! Nice job guys and I can’t wait for the wedding. Here are a few of the higlights from the day with MANY more to come!

Gregg and Lisa are an energetic young couple who are really excited about photography and really excited about each-other. We decided to break their engagement session into two parts because we all agreed that a shoot in a sunflower field would be awesome. The problem is, no sunflowers this time of year! So part one was a beach photo session at silver Sands State Park in Milford Connecticut. I love this beach! I almost got locked into the parking lot on another E-Session (they close at sunset.)

I spent today with a really energetic and excited couple. I always enjoy working with folks who are excited to make art! We chose to start the engagement photo session in downtown New Haven on the Yale University Campus. Following that we went to Lighthouse Park also in New Haven and had some fun on the beach. After these engagement photos at Yale and the beach I am really looking forward to being Harry & Diana’s wedding photographer.
